Structural bodywork
Structural Bodywork combines techniques from myofascial release and deep tissue massage as well as incorporating principles and techniques from anatomy trains structural integration.
Structural Bodywork can help alleviate chronic pain, stiffness, lack of mobility and muscle tension as well as helping with many postural related problems.
Although you can choose to have one session it is best received in a short course of four to six sessions to get the best results and long term benefit.
Anatomy Trains Structural Integration (formally KMI structural integration)
Anatomy Trains Structural Integration uses hands-on techniques to manipulate the muscles and fascia and reorganise the body’s structure. Its goal is to improve postural alignment, balance and flexibility. As a result, it can be excellent at helping with many of the long term chronic problems a lot of people suffer from, like backache, neck and shoulder pain, and can improve our well being and quality of life. Myofascial release
Myofascial Release techniques are designed to release restrictions in the myofascia. They are applied with a steady, gentle pressure which is held by the practitioner until a release in the tissues is felt. Your body knows what it needs, and these techniques are designed to work with the body, not against it. The techniques do not usually cause any pain, but sometimes a mild burning or heat may be felt as the fascia releases. More…
Deep tissue massage
Deep tissue massage focuses on the different layers of tissue (muscle, tendons and fascia), working to relax, lengthen, and release strain patterns within them so that the body’s posture can realign itself. The techniques used in deep tissue massage are also applied more slowly, so as to avoid causing the recipient discomfort when working deeply into the muscle and connective tissue, as well as allowing the nervous system to integrate the work.
